DLA Piper’s Jonathan Andersin has been included in Venture Capital Journal’s (VCJ) annual list of 40 Rising Stars under the age of 40 in the venture capital industry, which recognizes up-and-coming professionals in the VC community. Winners were selected from among over 170 nominees and Jonathan was the only lawyer and one of just four Europe-based individuals to be included in the list.

In determining the list, VCJ looked at whether candidates accomplished something notable over the last year and evidence of leadership or influence within their own firm or the broader venture field, among other criteria. VCJ notes that in addition to advising on some of the top Finnish deals in venture capital, in 2021 Jonathan published a well-received Finnish handbook on VC investments, the first ever in Finland. Furthermore, VCJ notes that Jonathan is an accomplished speaker at various training events organized by local business and venture associations.

Jonathan’s work highlights from 2021 include advising Finnish VC firms OpenOcean and Superhero Capital on several investments as well as advising Bregal Milestone as the lead investor on their investment in the €67 million financing round of M-Files, advising H&M as the lead investor on their investment in the €30 million financing round of Infinited Fiber Company and advising Plarium Global on the acquisition of Futureplay. Jonathan was also part of the DLA Piper team advising EQT on Wolt's EUR 7 billion exit – one of the largest tech deals in Europe ever.

Ilkka Liljeroos, Head of Corporate of DLA Piper in Finland, said:
“We are very happy about the well-deserved recognition Jonathan is getting. Having just completed his first full year at DLA Piper, Jonathan has added a new layer of depth to our VC practice and Corporate team. We are convinced that the future of Jonathan and the firm will be bright in the VC sector.”
