In addition to a Master of Laws degree, Mika holds a Doctors of Science (Business Administration) degree, and completed his award-winning doctoral dissertation on EU competition law. He also holds adjacent professorships of competition law at the University of Tampere and the University of Helsinki.

Matti Ylä-Mononen, DLA Piper's Country Managing Partner in Finland, said: “Mika has an exceptionally strong academic background combined with practical knowledge in competition law and public procurement. I am confident that he will play a valuable role in further developing our competition and regulatory offering in Finland and in the Nordic region, and we are delighted to welcome him to the firm. Both his experience and his view on developing our services are a very good fit with the firm’s strategy and plans, and will benefit our clients.”

Léon Korsten, DLA Piper International’s Head of Competition commented: "We are delighted that Mika, who is a very experienced and esteemed colleague, is joining DLA Piper's Global Antitrust & Competition Group.  The Nordics are a key strategic region for our group, and within the region, Finland is an important country – home to a great number of large corporates with an international footprint that matches very well that of DLA Piper in a number of areas, including, in particular, in the Antitrust & Competition field."

Mika Oinonen commented: "I am very excited to take on this role. I am truly impressed by how international the firm is, and I look forward to working as part of the international competition group. We are in a unique position to serve clients across the globe and offer consistent ways of working ensuring that clients get the same level of high quality and expertise regardless of their location.”
