DLA Piper advises Redeve on the sale of a property in Myllykoski, Kouvola, to data centre services company atNorth
We advised Redeve Oy on the sale of a property in Myllykoski, Kouvola, Finland, to data centre services company atNorth Oy. At the former paper mill site in Myllykoski, west of the Kymijoki River, a multi-billion dollar data centre is being built for atNorth.
In the first phase, the FIN04 data centre will have a capacity of 60 megawatts and will be completed in the second half of 2025. When fully completed, the centre's capacity could increase to several hundred megawatts. The Kouvola data centre will be designed with heat recovery in mind, so that the excess heat generated can be used to meet the needs of the city's citizens. The data centre investment is significant for the region of Southeast Finland and an important step in the development of the Myllykoski mill site. Redeve will retain ownership of more than 50 hectares of industrial land, which will be further developed.
The Redeve Group is a family-owned company specialising in real estate ownership and development. In addition to the former paper mill site in Myllykoski, Redeve Oy owns the former mill sites and surrounding rapidly developing industrial areas in Voikkaa, Säynätsalo, Jyväskylä, and Kajaani.
atNorth is the leading data centre services company in the Nordic region, providing sustainable, cost-effective and scalable data centre and HPC services in Iceland, Sweden and Finland. The company operates seven data centres in strategic locations in the Nordic region. The eighth data centre will open in Helsinki in Q3 2024 and the ninth in Denmark in Q4 2024. The tenth data centre will be completed in Kouvola, Finland, during 2025.
