DLA Piper advises Alfen on its acquisition of Elkamo

DLA Piper has advised Dutch-based specialist in energy solutions for the future, Alfen, on its acquisition of Elkamo, a developer and manufacturer of electricity distribution systems based in Finland.

The transaction includes the legal entities Oy Elkamo Ab and Elsteel Oy, a manufacturer of sheet metal (together referred to as “Elkamo”). The acquisition is an important step in the international growth ambitions of Alfen and offers a platform for cross-selling electric vehicle charging equipment and energy storage systems. Elkamo will be rebranded ‘Alfen Elkamo’ and the existing management of Elkamo will remain in place.

Alfen is headquartered in Almere, the Netherlands, and operates as a specialist in energy solutions for the future. Alfen designs, develops and produces smart grids, energy storage systems, and electric vehicle charging equipment and combines these products into integrated solutions.

The Helsinki-based team was led by DLA Piper's Country Managing Partner in Finland, Matti Ylä-Mononen, and assisted by Corporate senior counsel, Salla Tuominen, Employment counsel, Riikka Autio and Corporate associate, Eliel Ahmala.
