Please join our webinar on 2 December 2020 at 10.00-11.00 am (EET), where our international competition team will explain the ECN+ Directive’s implementation in the Nordics and how it will affect companies and trade associations. We will also look at the big picture of the impact of the ECN+ Directive across the EU and European competition law.

Topics we intend to cover include:

  • What kind of changes should both domestic and cross-border businesses be aware of?
  • What are the main differences in the implementation of ECN+ Directive between the Member States and Norway as an EEA Member in the Nordics?
  • What kind of new investigative and sanctioning powers will the competition authorities in the Nordics have?
  • What can be expected of ECN+ Directive implementation; will we see a shift in terms of more active competition authorities in the Nordics?
  • What should businesses and trade associations do to prevent infringements of competition law?

Background information:

The ECN+ Directive entered into force at the beginning of 2019 and provides new investigative and sanctioning powers to national competition authorities in the enforcement of national and EU competition laws. We will help you understand how this could impact your business. The national implementation of the Directive must be completed by 4 February 2021, with Norway lagging behind on implementation under the EEA Agreement.

ECN+ Directive aims to create a level playing field in terms of enforcement, thereby resulting in some national competition authorities being armed with new powers including structural remedies and a change in the fines imposed on trade associations. In some Member States, these changes will be significant.
