We are thrilled to invite you to a thought-provoking breakfast event and panel discussion to DLA Piper office at Kanavaranta 1, focusing on the growing impact of generative AI in the game industry. Markus Hjort from Bitmagic, will introduce us to the technology behind their platform and demonstrate the use of generative AI inside the game.

Our panel will feature J-P Kaleva, Managing Director, European Games Developer Federation (EGDF), who will bring industry expertise to the discussion, and Jere Partanen, Principal at Sisu Game Ventures, providing an investor’s perspective on the matter. Petteri Günther from DLA Piper, with extensive experience advising clients across IP-intensive industries such as technology, media, and entertainment, will provide valuable legal insights on IP issues related to generative AI.

The discussion will be moderated by Joeli Niva, DLA Piper’s expert on technology and IP law, with a strong focus on game industry. Together, our panelists will explore the opportunities and challenges posed by AI, especially from investment and legal perspectives.

About the speakers

Markus Hjort is the Co-founder and CTO of Bitmagic, a cutting-edge gaming startup, bringing over 20 years of diverse software development experience. Markus has crafted a professional career that spans gaming, fintech, and beyond. He has excelled in numerous roles, including programmer, technology consultant, development coach, team lead, and CTO. Markus has been instrumental in the success of various tech startups, skillfully guiding them from initial concept to fully-fledged products. He is also an avid developer of open-source projects and the host of a popular Finnish podcast dedicated to backend technologies.

Jari-Pekka Kaleva is an institution nerd helping the out there thinkers of the game industry to revolutionize the world we live in.  J-P is one of the founding members of Neogames Finland. At the moment, he works as Managing Director at the European game industry umbrella organisation EGDF and as Chief Policy Advisor at Neogames. He has more than a decade of experience tracking both national and EU level political decision making from the game industry’s point of view.

Jere Partanen is a Principal at Sisu Game Ventures and one of the founders of Pandatron, a startup using AI to democratize business coaching. He also has led the games and product management programming for Slush, with his curated industry events acting as the official kickoffs for the 2019 conference. He joined Sisu to support the establishment of the third edition of the fund, where he is active on multiple boards and has sourced and supported studios across all platforms, business models, and genres.
